Can the system send text messages to staff members?

The system does not send true text messages to staff members yet. You will have to use SMS to email in the staff member profiles. What this does is create an email address based on their phone number and carrier.

TIP:

Below is a link on how to convert the 10 digit number into the email address. You will need to know your staff member's cell phone carrier.

Once you know what the e-mail is, you can add it to their e-mail address by separating the e-mails by a comma. Please note that they will only receive the appointment confirmation by text. Most carriers only allow 160 characters in a text message, so they will either get multiple texts or one text with an incomplete message. There is no cost to you to send notifications this way.

NOTE:

The appointment e-mail notification for the staff members will also need to be set up to be sent to the staff member. Make sure that the correct setting is selected for the "Send e-mail to" in the Store Appointment Notification E-mail settings.

NOTE:

Recipients will pay their standard text message fees.

    Brian Email-to-SMS gateway is currently the industry standard because the average global price for a SMS message is about $0.10. Since there are over 4 million appointments scheduled in Appointment-Plus each month, it is unlikely we will be adding a true SMS text message capability any time soon.

    It is really surprising that this functionality isn't included already, this is almost universal among online scheduling softwares and interfaces. Any idea when this functionality will be available?

    Kerre - That looks like the subject line for the Store No-Show Notification E-mail. If that is coming through for the appointment confirmations, please submit a support ticket for them to look into it.

    Our staff members are receiving text messages, but only for the confirmed appointments. This is how it reads in the subject line: SUBJ: No Show Notification- nameofstaffmember We would like it to read "Confirmed" Thank you, Kerre
